TOKYO, Japan - Photo released by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Corp. (NEDO) on Feb. 20 shows a prototype information terminal that becomes activated by the touch of a human hand. Matsushita Battery devises paper-thin coin battery

OSAKA, Japan - Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. has developed what it claims to be the world's thinnest coin-shaped lithium storage battery for use as a power source for thin card devices with integrated circuits (ICs) inside. The ''Paper Coin'' battery has a thickness of 0.4 millimeter (0.016 inch), thin enough to be mounted in IC cards with a thickness of 0.76 millimeter, designated as an international standard by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the company said in Osaka on Nov. 30.
